Mens wedding clothes

Black tie

When the invite says black tie you know that the affair is going to be an upmarket formal affair so you are going to have to wear a dinner suit (or as the Americans say – a tuxedo).

A dinner suit is not a particularly complicated ensemble but is very common at weddings. The main components are the dinner jacket (single breasted with ribbed silk facings on a shawl collar), trousers (with silk braids covering the outer seams), dress shirt (white with Marcella frontage and double cuffs), bow tie (black, which you can buy pre-tied) and smart polished black shoes (such as brogues).

You can hire a full dinner suit for a wedding (normally excludes the shirt) but if you know a couple of black tie events are coming up (and you don’t pile on the pounds) we would recommend purchasing a tuxedo. There are numerous retailers who sell dinner suits for weddings online including Clermont Direct, Moss Bros, Marks and Spencer and MyTuxedo.

Dinner suit

So it's time to wear black tie for a special occasion. Whenever a man puts on a smart dinner suit it shows, he looks like a part from the latest James Bond film. Thankfully now-a-days it's a lot easier to find a stylish and affordable tuxedo online. There are many retailers from famous high street brands such as Marks and Spencer and John Lewis through to online retailers such as MyTuxedo who sell dinner suits.

Remember a dinner suit should feature all of the following items:

* JACKET – a dinner suit jacket with ribbed silk facings on a shawl collar or on a peaked.

* TROUSER – a pair of trousers with silk braids covering the outer seams.

* CUMMERBUND – a black cummerbund or low-cut waistcoat.

* DRESS SHIRT – a white dress shirt with a marcella front and either a wing or turndown collar.

* BOW TIE – a black ribbed silk (self-tied) bow tie matching the lapel facings.

* SHOES – black shoes in patent leather. Black dress socks, usually silk or fine wool.

* ACCESSORIES – including smart cufflinks, silk handkerchief and braces.

You'll look just like James Bond in your new dinner suit - smart, sophisticated and very cool.
